About  BMAC

BMAC is a relatively large (currently 100+ members) and friendly club operating from a superb farm site just to the north of the village of Deane, near Basingstoke.

We are affiliated to the national governing body for the sport, the BMFA, and operate within their national guidelines. Our priority is to provide a safe and friendly environment for our members to pursue the flying of radio-controlled aircraft.

Although powered fixed wing flying is the most popular type at the club, there are strong and growing contingents of glider/silent flight, helicopter and multi-rotor/quad pilots.

As we operate from farmland that has nearby neighbours, we strictly observe the BMFA’s recommended sound level limit and fly models that will not cause disturbance to these local residents.

In addition to having all-year-round flying, BMAC also has regular club meetings/talks of interest/modelling demonstrations and these tend to happen on a monthly basis (give or take) from October through to May.

These take place at the Basingstoke Sports and Social Club. A detailed list of these club events is available on our forum.

During the summer months, we try to get in a couple of BBQs and some evening flying at the field instead.

The Club takes the training of its novice pilots, whatever the discipline, seriously and as such, we have several qualified trainers who are happy to give you free instruction and take you through the BMFA Achievement Scheme. No pilot is allowed to fly unsupervised unless they have attained and presented proof of a relevant BMFA A-Cert or higher.

If you are just starting out, and before you purchase any aircraft or equipment, we’d strongly suggest that you read the appropriate page within the Training & Beginners section of the website. The buttons will take you to your chosen discipline.

When you reach the appropriate standard, our BMFA-qualified examiners can then test you and award the appropriate BMFA Achievement Scheme certificates. The Club has BMFA certified examiners for 'A' and 'B' tests, for helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and multi-rotors. Further details are available in the Training & Beginners section of the website.

Our Flying Field

We fly from an immaculately kept 3-acre flying field, with the main strip running roughly East-West. Pilots stand South of the Flight Line, looking North, meaning the sun is always behind you, avoiding distracting sun in your eyes.

We have easy parking close to the pits and flight line, therefore no carrying of models and equipment over rough ground or long distances. The parking has the added advantage of being mostly in shade, so no roasty vehicles when it’s time to leave. We’re a true ‘Park & Fly’ club!

In addition to the Main Strip and associated flying area which accommodates all of our flying disciplines, we have a small Multi-Use Area for for Helicopters and Multi-rotors to practice hovering and a larger FPV Area for flying small shockies, quads/drones and for practicing Heli and Multi-rotor A-Certs along with the hovering aspects of the Heli B-Cert.

Greater detail can be found in the Club Rules.
