Way back in 2004, BMAC held our very first open Electric Fly-In and for 21 years since bar one we have held this event, this year being our 20th time. The event is the biggest event in our club calendar and the only one we advertise nationally, so always a lot of pressure on the organisation to make it work. 20 years of holding any event is quite the achievement and one that should be celebrated.

This year the Scale Day was held on Sunday 27th Jul, and as we’ve come accustomed to for our summer events, we were greeted with a steady northerly crosswind (so much for the forecast Easterly straight down the strip!) and the obligatory summer grey cloud cover all day, making photography and model orientation interesting at times.

On Sunday 18th May 2025 the Basingstoke Model Aero Club hosted the Southern Area Achievement Scheme testing day.

The club had been approached by David Durnford and Terry Weeks of the BMFA Southern Area committee, to host the event and the BMAC committee happily accepted this opportunity to support the BMFA-SA and moreover, to support our hobby in this way.

Popham 2025 saw the culmination of the Club project to build and fly combat with lots of streamer-towing Spitties.

Michael Oates started the project with a Club build of the small, depron, cartoon Spitfires.

After several practice sessions during which a few simple procedures were established to facilitate safe launching and landing, all was ready for a public performance.

Out of a discussion around fresh photos for our club website, the question arose; how best to get new pictures.  We could just ask the members to send us new photos or even go out ourselves and taken some, but where’s the fun in that.

Instead, it was turned into a competition that would let the photographers in the club showcase their talents.

Our annual Electric Fly-In has taken place every year for the best part of 20 years and is the biggest event each year in our club's calendar. This year's event attracted a large number of flyers and spectators including many guests from other clubs.

The Electric day is generally our biggest event of the year and this time we attracted around 50 flyers, 18 of whom were guests from local clubs.  In all about 70 people attended during the day. 

The BMAC Electric Fly-in took place on Sunday 11^th September 2022.  The weather forecast was marginal: dry and warm but with a SW wind, 6-10 mph. However, as morning dawned it was irrelevant as we were presented with a dense mist!
