As most of you will be aware, long time BMAC member Mike Hutchins unfortunately passed away a little while ago after a long illness.
Anyone who flew with Mike, or was at least up at the patch when he was flying, would more than likely experience the whole rollercoaster of model flying emotions each and every time he was there. Mike would arrive with a car full of beautiful models, normally a couple of scale beauties thrown in for good measure, and then proceed to fly each and everyone of them with varying degrees of success - it was heart in your mouth stuff but all done with a smile and a laugh.
Fortunately Debs was always on hand and knew how to disarm a model and was accustomed to a short(ish!) trek across the farmers field!
To celebrate Mike’s time at the club, we are holding this one-off commemorative event.
It is intended to be a relaxed, inclusive flying event suitable for almost all fixed wing models and for all pilots with or without a buddy box.
As always, we’ll be providing food and refreshments and hopefully a few prizes along the way.
The intention is to run a dead-stick spot landing competition throughout the day over a number of rounds (possibly with different landing zones to replicate Mike’s efforts!), so you’ll have more than one chance to get it right…. …and with special easement for those without A certs etc.
Mike’s models were sold on to club members following his passing and we’d love to get as many of these models at the event as possible and potentially in the air at the same time. So, if you were lucky enough to pick up one of his models, it would be great to see you at the event - in fact you’ve got no excuse!
